I AM THE MASTER OF MY FATE….

                        OR AM I??????

                                    SO MUCH DEPENDS ON US

The subject is DISASTERS that over the centuries have taken the lives of millions and lay waste countless resources of this earth.

THIS REPORT — AND THOSE THAT WILL FOLLOW – - ARE DESIGNED
     TO HELP US KNOW THEM…
           PREPARE FOR THEM AND
NOT, AS HAVE SO MANY OVER THE YEARS BECOME THEIR VICTIMS

Our objective: to provide you the reader with an overview of the nature and history of disasters and what you, your families, neighbors and communities can do and WILL NEED – not when the disaster is upon us – BUT NOW.

Our aim: to provide you with an understanding of the consequences of disasters’ past – be it tornados, earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, asteroid, floods, oil spills, energy failures, or man made acts of terrorism…in order to lessen the impact of their rage and aftermath on ourselves, our families and communities.

In the coming weeks and months we will examine in depth many of the subjects touched upon in this Introductory Report, Tutorials will include:

  • A closer look at some of the past disasters, should history repeat itself or be multiplied in the areas you reside
  • Community Organization and Neighborhood Management, the key to being prepared. When government resources are overwhelmed, you and your neighbors will be the first responders.
  • Evacuation, what every member of our family must know and what we must do should it be needed, including evacuation routes, alternate routes in the event the primary is impassible, Survival Back-Packs, rendezvous points for family members in the event of separation, and traveling armed.
  • The ABC’s of First Aid
  • Hunting and Fishing:  In urban, suburban, and rural areas
  • Sources of information and educational opportunities.
  • Where we live: special situations for the city, the suburbs and rural life.
  • Communication: codes, techniques, relaying and the equipment you will need personally and as a community to insure safe passage, security and medical response within your community.
  • Seers, Prophecies and Scripture relevant to NOW.
  • Security:  In urban, suburban, and rural environments
  • Survival foods including Vegetarian Diets , Water Filtration and the necessity of Hand Pump Wells in the event of Grid Failure.

As I write this we have been witness to oil spewing from a broken well off the coast of Louisiana and onto its shoreline and the beaches of Florida and we know not where else. As disastrous as that spill has been the long term effects of the dispersants is yet to known.

It is important for man to learn from what “Mother Nature” has shown us already, even though an earthquake, volcanic eruption, huricane or tsunami may not have occurred in 50 or 100 years in your region, if there is a history of it ever occurring you must be prepared if it happens again. Katrina victims below at New Orleans Super Dome.

Cramped conditions, long lines for food/water, no showers, the stentch, tens of thousands of refugees sought sheltor, food and water at the New Orleans Super Dome in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina because they had no plan, no resources  and no fall back position when disaster struck. The psychological effect of disasters will impact those unprepared most of all.

The Earthquake on July 16 of this year with a magnitude of 3.6 reminds Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia that although rarely heard from there is an East Coast Fault Line.  The map above indicates fault lines of the world.

In the event normal fire/rescue are overwhelmed your neighbors will be the first responders that come to your aid.

Flooding has destroyed more recently than ever recorded. Tsunamis have been most deadly within the last decade

Traversing normal roadways with the kids and grandparents could be dangerous.
We will cover traversing trecherous ground more safely by youself or as a group in our Evacuation tutorial.

You may need to procede on foot, swim or climb if your evacuation route becomes impassable for vehicles.

Forecasts of things yet to come?  Perhaps…

So let us recognize that disasters, great and small have been with us a long, long time. A glimpse at their history of destruction making clear that we cannot depend on the other guy, the government or some hope for a rescue force to help us survive when the next one comes along.

                                    …We must do it ourselves

The key will be to have a Plan. In this, and future educational tutorials  we will provide you with the kind of time tested information  that will assist you, your family and your community to customize your plan and to afford you all the greatest chance of survival.

Your plan will be governed by where you live, how large your family is and the size and nature of the community you are planning for.  But even before your community begins taking steps to ensure its safety — you need to do so for your loved ones.

Our tutorials will give you the information and suggest the questions you must answer. It will be up to you, your family, friends and community, however to clarify your needs and access the resources presently available. Based on this knowledge it will be up to you to complete the design for your own security– whether it is an evacuation roadmap or the means to reach out to loved ones when separated by a day to day routine, or the assurance of the availability of items such as food, water, communication and security gear needed to survive a potential disaster.

So who are we?  Global Strategic Survival Solutions (GSSS) and Thunder Mountain Tactical (TMT)

My name is Eric Bjerke. My wife Donna and I, together and before our marriage have garnered some 50 years experience dealing with wide panoply of National Security, investigations, safety and survival situations in the face of disasters/chaos. I currently serve as an investigative specialist and platform instructor for my wife’s company, Global Strategic Services, LLC. Global Strategic Services specializes in training the intelligence and military communities in Security Awareness and Counter Terrorism.

During this time while conducting specialized training for US Special Forces, I met up with Colorado Teller County S.W.A.T team leader Sgt. Jason Mikesell. Sgt. Mikesell has been in the forefront of authorized “first responders” in local disaster situations, Colorado wild fires, as well as making the journey to Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina. There he was part of a 24 hr. reaction team sent to protect city workers from those who took advantage of the disaster zones.

After hearing their eye witness testimony of what humans are faced with in times of crisis/famine/chaos, what they will do, what they will need and how they will react we, and our families, began a series of conversations about what it would take to survive a catastrophe, so many have already experienced. This subject is something very personal for Sgt. Mikesell and his wife Pam who have 4 children, and for Donna and me who are now parents of our first-born. Our combined efforts are to increase the safety and survivability of individuals and families in the U.S. and around the world.

I began researching all the evidence I could find through books, interviews, and scientific studies about being prepared to survive a modern day disaster, whether global in nature or more geographically contained. I spread my voyage wide to include reports, projections including the Mayan calendar and incite of scientists and survival experts, as well that of the spiritual texts from the Torah, Bible, Koran and the predictions of prophets and seers at the same time.

The Four Horseman of the Apocalypse

As a result I have already begun steps to ensure my community would be prepared and organized in the event of any type of emergency.

MY PLAN CAN BE MODIFIED TO WORK IN ANY COMMUNITY ANYWHERE on the planet.

While I was compiling my research Sgt. Mikesell started Thunder Mountain Tactical (TMT) concentrating his skills offering the best gear, food, water filtration, weapons parts/accessories and equipment the public will need to survive. His intent to afford people the best gear at prices lower than most, on the market.

Tested in real domestic survival situations and on the battlefield TMT has adapted them to disaster situations of the kinds we have experiences and which have been predicted in order to deal with their onslaught and after affects here at our own homes.

After years of working together we decided to join forces. For it is one thing to offer, as do others, survival supplies and equipment.  But without people giving the potential purchaser an understanding of the nature of disasters along with the education, tactics and training needed and the role survival equipment plays in the overall defense against the impact of a disaster — all the supplies in the world will be of little use.

It is our objective to provide you with that guide and give you the means to Increase the “Safety and Survivability” of you, your family and your community.

But let’s first take a quick guided history tour of the past because as we have become more and more aware –

THE PAST…IS PROLOGUE

Disasters have been with us a long time…Six thousand years ago Nature turned against one of The America’s early civilizations when a storm of sand, drove away residents from what had been for thousands of years a maritime farming community of an area that is now in Peru.

In 24 AD Mt. Vesuvius erupted creating a pyroclastic flow and ash cloud that blanketed surrounding town’s residents of Pompeii and Stabiae, wiping out complete civilizations in Italy.

The deadliest earthquake in history hit the eastern Mediterranean in 1201. Approximately 1.1 million people were killed. Since then hundreds and hundreds more natural disasters both large and small have been reported.

Only recently, another volcano erupted, this in Eyjafjallajokull Iceland whose impact was felt far beyond the boundaries of the country. The wind carried volcano ash over Europe and beyond, crippling all air travel, shipments of goods and supplies for weeks on end.

Earlier a tsunami, in Indonesia spread havoc throughout the area reaching into Sri Lanka, India and Thailand causing serious damage as far as the east coast of Africa and the deaths of more than 283,000 giving scientists such as tsunami scholars from the University of California cause to speculate a future event that would begin in the Canary Islands, one flank of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island of La Palma is unstable and scientists say it’s not a matter of whether it will erupt again but WHEN. If the flank collapsed it would release 500 billion tons of debris causing a mega tsunami that will affect North Africa, Britain, Europe and deliver waves 200 hundred feet in height to the shores of the East Coast in the United States.

InHaiti an earthquake has taken the lives of over 230,000.  Injured 300,000 and left 1,000,000 homeless. Collapsed residences and buildings and even now, almost a year after its impact the country stands bereft.

Closer to home, not far from the noxious site of the oil spill, the earlier Hurricane Katrina, flooded New Orleans, breaking down levees, trapping the populace in its wake, leaving 1836 people dead and a damage toll exceeding 81 billion dollars with thousands of citizens from Mississippi and Louisiana still displaced.  And, as you read this be aware that an independent report from the Southern Illinois University suggests that like those in New Orleans the levees of St Louis are unsafe and could portend a similar disaster in the plains of Missouri.

No, Disasters are not new … What is new is that in our race to create greater and greater technology, to increase our demands for more and more unrestrained use of our energy resources and turn our backs on the long prophesized disruption of our climate and our land we have managed to add still another category of disaster to the ever growing list.

Within the past month the Director of the CIA, Leon Penata on a Sunday morning news show, warned that one of the greatest threats facing this country is a breach of cyber security that could paralyze the nation, Not as something that may happen in the future… but rather as the heads of our National Security office reported on CBS’ 60 min. the invasion of our cyber security systems by outsiders has increased more than 400 percent over the past decade.

The latest cyber breach released over 90,000 classified military documents.

What does that mean to us… a NBC documentary “Future Earth” gave us a glimpse of what could happen if in our increased demand of energy during hot and steamy summers, the kind we are experiencing today. Power grids of cities would face overload, and like as in the interference of our cyber system collapse.

The result: the breakdown of our civilization, as we know it.  Cities, suburbs and farmland thrust into a complete blackout, powerless, our critical financial networks and banking systems broken, stoppage of communication by telephone, cell phone or cable, shipping,  transportation and the refrigeration of Food/Water, fuel production and distribution cease, law and order no longer possible, water systems blocked, security systems inoperable.

Humanity has created a new category to add to the list.

WHAT CAUSES DISASTERS?

It is said that over time Science and Scripture will come together with clues found within biblical literature be it the Torah, Bible or the Koran. For example, more than any other Old Testament tale, it is the story of Noah and the Flood with which individuals of all ages and religious backgrounds are most familiar. In Jewish, Christian and Islamic literature, the story of the Deluge plays an important role. And, science agrees that considerable evidence exists of a major global paleoclimate event having occurred around 3000 B.C. that affected sea level changes, vegetation and much surface chemistry. Its timing gives rise to speculation that this event is in fact the Biblical Flood and the story of Noah of the Old Testament which is strongly supported by the Koran.

Since that time more than two hundred Flood traditions have been recorded…with both science and seers predicting many more to come. An example, the New Age philosopher, Edgar Cayce predicted such a catalaclystic as shown in the blacked out regions of the map below indicate regions inundated with water.

If the Mayans 12/21/2012 prediction causes tectonic plates to shift Cayce’s map could show where global earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis would cause the most severe devastation. Refugees and the dead will number in the hundreds of millions.

And will the predictions of Days of Judgment or the coming of Rapture on May 21, 2011 that Harold Camping predicts come true. Who knows?

What we do know is that the world today faces and will continue to face the onslaught of disasters … And it is up to us, all of us to take steps now to assure that when they come we – our families and our communities — are not their victims, too many of us claim they recognize there will be disasters – but it can’t happen to me.  And even if it does, it’s the other guy who will take care of it.

But it can – and does happen to us — and it is up to us “to take care of it.”

It is our hope that this report and those which follow will provide the roadmap for helping you on your journey.
The First step…

PLAN AHEAD…

Your goal now when no apparent disaster looms before you is to make sure that together first as a family and then as community you will have the essentials of survival; food, water, first-aid, a plan for evacuation if needed and then the specific knowledge and ability to protect and rescue your family, friends and neighbors, particularly in those instances when formal fire, rescue, police, FEMA and other first responders are either overwhelmed, not yet on the scene and with little if any assurance when they will arrive.

But first you will access the needs and resources of your own home and your own family.  How you can assure basic needs are in supply, what you will need to supplement in order that you and your family can be self sufficient during the disaster and its aftermath such as the resources offered by Thunder Mountain Tactical. Click on the link above and go straight to their site.

Just as you assess your family’s immediate requirements so too will be the need to take steps to assure that your community becomes a strong coalition to assure the safety of all living within its border and those that might take refuge where you live should refugees come that will need your help.

It will start with organizing your community, your neighborhood or your street whether you live in a rural area or in an apartment complex.

Neighborhood Management will be the key to a success in times of trouble.

Examine what members of your community have to contribute in terms of equipment to search/rescue and battle the wreckage of disasters and the talents of your neighbors — doctors, nurses, carpenters, communication specialists, law enforcement, and military – who can be mobilized into an offense/defense team.   To do this you will need to choose what we, where we live, call a community manager. It may for you be the local neighborhood representative, or council member, a principal of a school, administrator of a hospital or person with logistical skills who has the ability to understand how your neighborhoods can be organized based upon the knowledge, skills, resources, supplies and equipment that reside within our borders. Someone who can mobilize the community in the event of a disaster to launch a search and rescue operations, provide – with or without outside assistance — first aid, security, food and water supplies and substitutions.

In our next tutorial we will discuss the specifics of achieving such a coalition and the elements that you should consider in planning ahead.

It will be the start of what we hope will be a most important journey.

Please share this with all whom you love and those you deem good honest people.

I ordered a hand-pump for my well and it has arrived! An exciting and comforting treat to myself to know I have water and so do my animals if the grid goes down.
